CAIRO – Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Waleid Gamal El-Dein asserted that the authority was keen on deepening cooperation with Chinese investors for the enhancement of strategic partnership between the two countries on the various fronts especially after Egypt’s joining the BRICS group.
This came during Gamal El-Dein’s meeting with Deputy Governor of China Shandong Province and Secretary-General of the Provincial Government Song Junji and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting here to get acquainted with incentives given by SCZONE and available investment chances whether in the field of harbors or the various industrial zones affiliated with SCZONE.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the privileges of the economic zones whether at the six harbors affiliated with SZONE or the industrial zones which are characterized with international standards that qualify them to localize any targeted industry.
The Chinese official, for his part, asserted that the business community in Shandong was keen on pumping major investments in the SZONE’s projects especially that a large number of Chinese companies are operating in TEDA-Egypt zone.
He also highlighted the possibility of cooperation with SCZONE in the field of harbors as Shandong province has one of the major companies operating in this sector.
The economy of Shandong is China’s third largest provincial economy with a GDP of 1.2 trillion in 2022.
