SCMR: mechanisms to counter unhealthy or fraudulent products

Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR), Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz discussed during a meeting with Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, Dr Tareq el-Houby, ways of co-operating and the need to establish regulations and mechanisms for food products and supplements to counter deceptive or misleading advertisements.

Any announcement should be broadcast only if the registration or accreditation number is obtained, NFSA said.

Abdel Aziz stressed the importance of the role played by the Food Safety Authority in preserving citizens’ health and promoting the concepts of quality and safety of dietary supplements.

Media has an important role in spreading healthy food awareness, el-Houby said.

Also, he highlighted NFSA’s supervisory role in food and agricultural sectors.
