Schneider Electric, the global leader in energy management and automation, has established itself as a driving force in Egypt’s energy efficiency and sustainability journey. With Egypt being the hub of the Northeast Africa and Levant cluster, the company has collectively invested more than €300 million in Egypt since entering the market.
With a strong portfolio of assets, Schneider Electric has more than 1,500 employees serving the cluster, the majority of which are based in Egypt with its headquarters located in New Cairo. Schneider Electric’s Regional Plant, located in Badr Industrial City, is one of the largest state-of-the-art factories of the company worldwide. Boasting multiple production lines, the factory caters to local demand and exports its products to 14 countries in the region. Additionally, Schneider Electric has established an Excellence Center and a Distribution Center in 10th Ramadan City.
With sustainability and innovation embedded in its culture and operations, Schneider Electric has been proudly the partner of choice for sustainability and digitalization for the government and private sector. Among the most notable projects is the collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity to renovate the distribution control centers (DCCs) as part of the government’s strategy to develop the national electricity distribution network to become the biggest smart grid in the Middle East and promote sustainability. The completion of the first phase, which involved four distribution centers in Cairo, marks a significant milestone in this joint effort.
Another noteworthy partnership is Schneider Electric’s MoU with the Ministry of Social Solidarity to execute development in several governorates across Egypt as part of the Haya Karima initiative. These projects aim to promote the use of solar energy, create job opportunities and empower local communities and women. The projects have already been implemented in Esna and Dandara villages in Luxor and Qena.
Within the private sector, Schneider Electric has cultivated an extended network of partners and customers across various industries including real estate, water and wastewater management, smart homes, industrial automation, and transportation, to name a few.
As Schneider Electric continues to spearhead sustainability and energy efficiency efforts in Egypt, it remains at the forefront of the country’s drive for innovation and progress. Through its strategic partnerships, investments, and committed workforce, Schneider Electric is working hand in hand with Egypt to shape a more sustainable and efficient future.
