Johnson Controls Arabia (JCA) has secured a $90 million share in a record-breaking $180 million Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) project in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. As a global leader in smart, energy-efficient building solutions, JCA is supplying and installing over 11,000 advanced YORK VRF units across 138 buildings in the city’s R5 Zone, delivering an impressive 140,000 tons of cooling capacity.
Pioneering sustainable cooling
JCA has long been at the forefront of VRF technology, manufacturing cutting-edge HVAC systems at its facility in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). With successful deployments across Saudi Arabia and beyond, the company continues to drive energy-efficient, large-scale urban development projects.
CEO reinforces commitment to excellence
During a visit to Zone R5, JCA’s CEO Dr. Mohanad AlShaikh met with key partners, including Innovo, Medcom, and Marasem, to strengthen collaboration. These partnerships, formalized through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), are crucial to the project’s success.
“This project showcases JCA’s dedication to advancing energy-efficient cooling technologies on a global scale. We are proud to play a key role in Egypt’s transformative urban development,” said Dr. AlShaikh.

A project of unprecedented scale
Part of Egypt’s ambitious New Administrative Capital, the R5 VRF project will serve 22,000 apartments with a total cooling capacity of 280,000 tons, marking a significant milestone in the global HVAC industry.
As Egypt continues its urban expansion, JCA remains committed to delivering sustainable, high-performance cooling solutions, reinforcing its role as a key player in shaping the cities of the future.
