The Information Centre of the National Food Safety Authority published in its 40th report that during the period from October 19 to 25, the Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centres made 28 visits and issued 429 agricultural export permits.
The General Administration of Factories Control carried out 12 supervisory inspections of food factories nationwide in co-operation with the Industrial Development Authority.
Sweet potatoes topped the list of exports at 13,000 tonnes, followed by beans at 8,000 tonnes and mixed vegetables at 6,000.
The number of exported vegetables reached 50 at an amount of 32,000 tonnes.
Pomegranate was in the lead with 13,000 tonnes, and mango and lemons were at 6,000 tonnes for each.
Sudan, Libya, the USA, and Saudi Arabia were the biggest customers for Egyptian products out of 166 importers.
The Strategic Commodities Department carried out 13 inspection visits to wheat storage sites all over Egypt.
The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 29 products, 14 companies, examined 651 new products, and issued 11 free sell certificates.
Complaints Management carried out 867 inspection campaigns to ensure the safety of food in a number of governorates.
Control of Commercial Chains has conducted 55 commissariats to ensure that their branches meet the requirements of food safety.
582 food establishments were registered, and 351 establishments met the requirements during last week.
The Warehouse Control Department implemented 15 monitoring missions in a number of governorates.
According to NFSA’s requirements, the General Department of Slaughterhouses inspected some of the slaughterhouses in Al-Qalyubia governorate.
The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), as part of its role, has launched extensive inspection campaigns to ensure food safety. This came in line with directives from NFSA chairman Dr. Tareq el-Houby to tighten the control on food establishments in a number of governorates.
