Industrial Development Authority (IDA) chief Dr Nahid Youssef held a bilateral meeting with both the cereal and food industry chambers to discuss ways of supporting the Egyptian industry and optimisation of the available productive capacities and examination of ways of developing the mill sector (public and private), within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fatah El Sisi.
The meeting stressed the importance of local industry towards opening channels of communication and direct dialogue with representatives of the business community to develop critical and strategic sectors in particular Through continuous coordination with the Federation of Egyptian Industries to interact and respond to the views of the specialised industrial chambers in the food sector to achieve food security, which is at the top of the State’s priorities in the current period, to meet the needs of local markets, which came within the framework of the approach of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting also also addressed ways of developing exports of cereal products such as flour, pasta, pastry and baked goods were also addressed The challenges facing manufacturers in this context have been reviewed and a number of recommendations were monitored to achieve these objectives, including the importance of having branches of Egyptian banks in African countries to secure financial transactions between Egyptian companies and importers in African countries.
In addition to the importance of supporting coordination with the commercial representation sector to increase visits and marketing missions to those markets to know their exact needs, to stimulate the export of Egyptian products.
Industrial Development Authority (IDA) chief Dr Nahid Youssef pointed out that the position of a number of projects, including the position of 16 school meal factories of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, was discussed during the meeting with members of the chambers of business to study the possibility of their management and operation by the private sector to raise the efficiency of the equipment and machinery in those factories.
