The General Administration of Factories Control carried out 51 supervisory inspections of food factories nationwide, according to the latest report by the Information Centre of the National Food Safety Authority during the period May 18-24.
Notably, eleven food facilities were registered with the National Food Safety Authority, and three met registration requirements.
Examination, inspection, and accreditation visits by the Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centres reached 53, registered 4 establishments, and issued 2,631 agricultural export permits.
Onions topped the list of exports at 24,000 tons, followed by potatoes at 21,000 tons and vegetables at 6,000 tons.
Citrus fruit exports were in the lead with 56,000 tons, followed by grapes at 17,000 tons and strawberries at 10,000 tons.
Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and the Netherlands were the biggest customers for Egyptian products out of 177 importers.
The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 88 products and 3 companies, carried out 6 inspection visits, and examined 868 new products.
The room for strategic goods management has inspected the functioning of the local wheat receiving committees and overcome any obstacles in the number of governorates.
The Authority’s managers also periodically pass through local wheat storage sites within each governorate.
Control of Commercial Chains has conducted 27 commissariats to ensure that their branches meet the requirements of food safety.
The number of establishments registered has reached 564 and 139 establishments met the requirements of NFSA. The Warehouse Control Department implemented 21 monitoring missions in a number of governorates.
The General Department of Slaughterhouses conducted 8 inspection visits to poultry and meat slaughterhouses, as well as 55 visits to intestinal factories, in addition to issuing 16 permissions for exports to the EU.
The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) has launched extensive inspection campaigns to ensure food safety.
This came in line with directives from NFSA chairman Dr Tareq El-Houby to tighten the control on food establishments to that end.
