NFSA opens second phase of developing slaughterhouses 1 - Egyptian Gazette

The Information Centre of the National Food Safety Authority issued its eleventh weekly report in 2024 for the period from March 9 to15.

The General Administration of Factories Control carried out 58 supervisory missions on food factories in all governorates during the second week of March.

Twenty food facilities were registered with the National Food Safety Authority and one met the requirements.

Examination, inspection, and accreditation visits by the Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centres reached 59; one establishment was registered and 3,218 export permits were issued for agricultural produce.

A special workshop was held between March 6th and 7th in co-operation with Agricultural Export Council to review the main concepts of food safety during the circulation and packing operations within the date stations of Bahariya Oasis to guide workers to the most important requirements to be met during the packing of Egyptian dates.

In addition to participating in the second phase for the development of slaughterhouses in co-operation with Ministry of Local Development

Potatoes topped vegetable exports by 40,000 tons, followed by frozen vegetables, 12,000 tons and beans with 6000 tons, citrus fruits, 75,000 tons, strawberries 15,000 and other fruits 3000 tons.

A training programme has been held for fish trading establishments of formal control systems within the framework of the European Union’s requirements and legislation.

Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Spain and Yemen represented the largest recipients of Egyptian exports over the past week out of a total of 146 importing countries.

The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 71 products and 6 companies, carried out 4 supervisory visits,examined 790 new products, and issued 9 free sale certificates.

The complaints management team launched campaigns on the 733 food facility to ensure the safety of the food products offered in a number of governorates.

Control of Commercial Chains has conducted 23 commissariats to ensure that their branches meet the requirements of food safety.

The number of establishments registered has reached 6, bringing the number of chains registered to date to 1653 for 47 commercial chains.

The General Department of Slaughterhouses conducted 6 inspection visits topoultry and meat slaughterhouses, in addition to issuing 25 permissions tonatural envelope factories.

Also, NFSA has participated in an inspection with a delegation from the Ministry of Local Development and the General Authority of Veterinary Services to check Shebeen slaughterhouse in Monufia governorate.

The food safety branch in various governorates launched extensive inspection campaigns to ensure the implementation of food safety requirements.This came as part of the efforts of the directives of Dr Tareq el-Houby,Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), to tighten the control over food establishments to ensure the safety of the food products offered and to safeguard public health.
