Minister of Trade and Industry Neveen Gamea said the new program for supporting exports and refunding burdens aims at strengthening local industry and developing Upper Egypt and border areas along with backing projects at the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
During a meeting with heads of the export councils on Monday, Gamea said the program calls for promoting exports of small-sized projects and boosting the flow of Egyptian exports into African countries and new markets.
The program is aimed at upping exportation rates despite the global economic recession caused by Covid-19 pandemic, according to Gamea.
The goal of the program is increasing employment rates in different industries and boosting local and foreign investments along with deepening the national industry and upgrading the quality of Egyptian products in order to create a new generation of exporters, said the minister.
The political leadership and the government are interested in the file of increasing Egyptian exports to foreign markets, she said, underlining the importance that all parties concerned reach full harmony regarding the new program to achieve its required goals as far as the industrial and export sectors are concerned.
A report on the novel program will be presented to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli for approval. It will be applied on exported shipments starting from July 1, 2020.
