CAIRO – The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade said on Thursday that total sugarcane crop supplied by farmers to the Sugar Company for Integrated Industries during the 2022 season amounted to 6.06 million tonnes.
This quantity has produced about 643,725 tonnes of raw sugar so far, the ministry said.
The season of sugarcane supplies started on December 28 and is to run till end of April.
The ministry seeks to get 8.1 million tonnes of sugarcane from farmers to produce 874,851 tons of sugar.
The price per ton for this season is LE810 against LE720 the season before.
