CAIRO – Egypt’s Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir said total investments of Robbiki Leather City, a model city dedicated for upgrading the leather industry in Egypt, are estimated at 7.2 billion pounds.
The minister gave the remarks during an inspection tour of the city to stand on conditions of factories there. The tour included 100 factories for fully-made leather products.
The city project aims at increasing the production of each worker from 60 ft² to 250 ft² daily through giving training courses to workers at the technological centers in the city.
The city, covering an area of 506 feddans, is one of the specialized industrial cities that were established in accordance with international criteria with the aim of increasing production from 100 million ft² to 300 million ft² annually.
The project also aims at creating 20,000 new direct and indirect jobs and increasing competitiveness of leather products.
The first stage of the project was finalized to include 213 production units serving 195 investors at an area of 176 feddans.
