CAIRO – Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet said international standards shall be applied on imported commodities through the implementation of the Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives.
He reiterated in a statement on Thursday that such steps will help lower customs clearance duration, cost of import and export and consequently lower their prices in local markets in a way that will encourage exports and stimulate trade and investments.
ACI has been successfully adopted for maritime shipments since more than 32,000 companies and 83,000 foreign exporters have registered their electronic accounts, so the application of the system shall became mandatory as of October, he said.
The minister also directed to facilitate things for importers and agents to join ACI system through Nafeza portal.
