The General Administration of Factories Control carried out 85 supervisory missions on food factories in all governorates during the third week of March.

Ten food facilities were registered with the National Food Safety Authority and five facilities met the requirements.

Examination, inspection, and accreditation visits by the Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centres reached 57; five establishments were registered and 3,272 export permits were issued for agricultural produce.

On March 17, NFSA participated in the Egyptian-Italian conference for shipments services to establish express line for shipment (RORO) to transport crops between Damietta and Trieste ports.

Potatoes topped vegetable exports by 45,000 tonns, followed by frozen vegetables, 15,000 tonns and beans with 5,000 tonns, citrus fruits, 70,000 tonns, strawberries 15,000 and other fruits 4,000 tonns.

A training programme has been held for fish trading establishments of formal control systems within the framework of the European Union’s requirements and legislation.

Saudi Arabia, the Netherland, Spain and Italy represented the largest recipients of Egyptian exports over the past week out of a total of 155 importing countries.

The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 67 products and 11 companies, carried out 9 supervisory visits, examined 669 new products, and issued 12 free sale certificates.

Control of Commercial Chains has conducted 19 commissariats to ensure that their branches meet the requirements of food safety.

The number of establishments registered has reached 2, bringing the number of chains registered to date to 1655 for 47 commercial chains.

The General Department of Slaughterhouses conducted 10 inspection visits to poultry slaughterhouses, in addition to issuing 68 permissions to natural envelope factories.

The food safety branch in various governorates launched extensive inspection campaigns to ensure the implementation of food safety requirements.
