Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, today announced the expansion of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner order from 12 to 15 aircraft, reinforcing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s long-term commitment to strengthening national aviation capabilities and expanding global connectivity.
The announcement follows the signing of the definitive purchase agreement with Boeing for 787 Dreamliners on the sideline of Dubai Airshow 2025, confirming the commitment announced earlier in July 2025 to purchase 12 with 6 optional aircrafts during the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the United States.
The additional aircraft form part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strategic plan to accelerate economic growth, expand tourism, and position the Kingdom as a competitive and future-ready aviation hub. This expansion reflects the Kingdom’s confidence in Gulf Air’s role as a national asset with increasing importance for global connectivity, economic diversification, and long-term national development.
The agreement follows a successful conclusion of commercial discussions with Boeing, allowing Gulf Air to secure delivery positions that support the Kingdom of Bahrain’s long-term traffic growth and future network expansion. The additional 787s will enable Gulf Air to enhance its premium long-haul offering and strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive regional market.
Gulf Air continues to modernize its fleet as part of an aligned effort between the airline, the airport, and the Kingdom’s broader economic development priorities. The expansion of the Boeing 787 order marks another milestone in positioning Gulf Air for sustainable growth.
