CAIRO – German ambassador to Egypt, Jürgen Schulz praised Sunday Velaro high-speed train project calling it an excellent example of German technology and the largest foreign project by a German company worldwide.
The German diplomat said, the project highlights the positive role of more than 1,600 German companies operating in Egypt.
Schulz made the remarks on the sidelines of TransMEA 2025, as Siemens Mobility unveiled the Velaro train for the first time in Egypt, according to a statement from the German Embassy.
The project is expected to play a central role in Egypt’s new railway network, which will span over 2,000 km and connect more than 60 stations across the country.
