CAIRO – The Arab forum on boosting economic integration among Arab countries under the title: “intra trade and role of public and private sectors” in Egypt kicked off Monday under the auspices of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.

The three-day gathering is being held at the Arab Administrative Development Organisation (ARADO), in the presence of Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi and Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait.

The forum aims to discuss ways to achieve economic integration among Arab countries, in light of the current challenges facing the region and the world.

The gathering will also tackle the status of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), review Arab experiences in inter-trade and the role of the private sector in this regard.

The meeting will discuss facilitating trade exchange among Arab countries and Arab economic integration, with a view to enhancing solidarity among Arab countries and achieving desired development and prosperity for the Arab people.

International and regional repercussions of the global crisis and its impact on the Arab economy will also figure high on the gathering’s agenda.

The forum will witness the participation of high-level figures, including ministers and representatives of Arab countries.

Representatives of the League of Arab States, the World Trade Organisation, the International Monetary Fund, the Arab federations of industries and chambers of commerce and a number of Arab businessmen are also participating in the event.
