CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Minister and President-designate of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 27) Sameh Shoukry discussed with Indonesian Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati prospects of promoting economic relations and exploring cooperation opportunities between Egypt and Indonesia in various development areas.
The meeting was held on Friday in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, the third stop of Shoukry’s Asian tour, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
The two sides asserted their keenness to continue consultations in the coming period, mainly in light of Indonesia’s hosting and chairmanship of the coming G20 summit, as well as Egypt’s presidency of COP 27, Hafez added.
On that score, they stressed the importance of ensuring that the upcoming G20 summit, under Indonesia, will come up with strong results related to climate funding and supporting the developing countries’ efforts in this regard and helping COP 27, under Egypt, reach ambitious outcomes.
