CAIRO – Egypt’s unemployment rate recorded 6.7 percent in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, nearly a 0.2 percent increase compared to Q2, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced.
The country’s workforce grew by 2.5 percent from 31.423 million to 32.218 million during this quarter.
Employment in urban areas hit 14.190 million while in rural regions it accounting for 18.028 million.
In terms of gender, the labor force remains predominantly male, with male employment reaching 26.432 million while female employment reached 5.786 million.
Unemployment among individuals aged 15-19 years slightly increased to 10.4 percent, up from 7.4 percent in Q2.
The unemployment rate for the 25-29 age group recorded 21.7 percent, down from 26.3 percent in the Q2.
