The Egyptian government is eager to boost co-operation with Croatia in the oil and gas industries, a government minister said Thursday.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el-Mulla referred to programmes to support bilateral relations and increase Croatia’s activities in the field of oil and energy.
These statements came during the minister’s meeting with Gordan Grlić Radman, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia.
Croatian Ambassador in Cairo Tomislav Bochnyak attended the meeting.
El-Mulla hailed the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum for its role in securing part of gas supplies to countries in the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe.
Infrastructure, networks and gas pipelines would serve the purposes of co-operation between both countries, el-Mulla said.
The forum helps Egypt become a centre for trade and transport of gas and oil and achieve integration with European countries, he added.
For his part, Radman said that the Croatian company INA, which conducts research and exploration in the Western Sahara, has plans to expand its investments in the coming period.
“A protocol would lay the foundations for cooperation between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company and INA,” el-Mulla added.
A draft co-operation protocol is being drawn up.
