CAIRO – Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla said Egypt has large oil and gas potential to expand the production of green hydrogen, which is considered a main source of low carbon energy.
Molla’s remarks came during his participation in a round-table meeting with CEOs of 16 oil and gas companies working in the UK, according to a press release by his ministry.
The gathering comes as part of the activities of the Egyptian-British Association’s trade mission in London.
Molla stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination between governments, the private sector and all concerned parties to mobilize support and financing to secure energy supplies in a sustainable manner and bring about the transition to low-carbon energy.
The petroleum minister lauded the global energy sector’s efforts to accelerate energy transition and apply emission reduction technologies on a large scale in order to keep providing the energy sources necessary to achieve prosperity, progress and economic growth for all peoples of the world in eco-friendly ways.
