CAIRO – Egypt is gearing up for hosting the eighth Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) that will be held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh in September.
The 2023 AIIB Annual Meeting will be attended by 3,000 international figures, including finance ministers and heads of the central banks of member states.
Representatives from the ministry and the bank held preparatory meetings to ensure success of the event which includes an exhibition of Egyptian and foreign companies.
In a statement, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said he is looking forward that the AIIB meetings would lure more investments and promote development in order to improve people’s life and the services offered to them.
He added that this goes in line with the ongoing efforts to empower the private sector to play its role in economic growth.
He said Egypt seeks to benefit from the AIIB expertise in mobilizing financial resources of private investments in nationally-pivotal sectors in order to realize sustainable development.
