CAIRO – Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shimi discussed in a meeting with Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang ways to strengthen relations between the two countries and expand economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Shimi highlighted strategic ties between Egypt and China and the two friendly peoples, praising the remarkable development in relations between the two countries in various fields, which have recently witnessed a significant boom.
The minister reviewed the ministry’s affiliated companies’ operations and the promising investment opportunities available in various sectors, including the mineral, chemical, and pharmaceutical fields, as well as the textile, tourism, hotels, and real estate development sectors.
The meeting covered several joint projects, most notably cooperation between El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company and Yutong, a leading Chinese bus manufacturer.
Other cooperation projects with China include the production of various vehicle models as part of the state’s strategy to localize the vehicle industry and promote reliance on clean and sustainable technology.
He stated Egypt is ready to strengthen cooperation with China through various partnerships that serve mutual interests.
Egypt is keen to provide the necessary facilities to attract serious foreign investment, especially from China, and provide a stimulating and encouraging business environment.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador said his country is keen on enhancing joint cooperation with Egypt, especially given the strong ties between the two countries’ leaders, which represent a solid foundation for strengthening economic partnership.
He noted that Chinese firms are eager to enhance collaboration with Egypt and are prepared to enter into partnerships with public sector companies and take advantage of the promising investment opportunities offered by the Egyptian market.
