OTTAWA – Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada Ahmed Abu Zeid met with Agriculture Minister in Saskatchewan Province David Marit, where they discussed means of boosting co-operation between Egypt and Canada in several sectors, including facing global challenges concerning food security, and the impact of price hikes in agricultural goods on Egypt.

Abu Zeid discussed with Marit the consequences of the Russia-Ukrainian war, and the coronavirus pandemic on the global food security and countries importing strategic goods, including Egypt.

The meeting probed potential cooperation between Egypt and Saskatchewan in this regard.

Marit expounded to Abu Zeid the potentials of Saskatchewan in producing wheat, lentils, chickpeas and canola, as it enjoys 40 percent of Canada’s arable lands.

The Canadian minister extended invitations to the Egyptian officials and companies to visit Saskatchewan to get familiar with cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
