Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, Dr. Tareq el-Houby, received Georg Krenn, an Austrian commercial counsellor, in Cairo. The meeting was attended by a number of officials of NFSA and the Austrian Embassy.
El-Houby reviewed NFSA’s supervisory role to ensure the arrival of healthy and safe food, including the examination of food messages exported at various ports, as well as methods to withdraw samples and issue certificates accompanying shipments.
In addition to taking measures to enhance consumer confidence in the Egyptian product and increase its competitiveness in the global markets.
He also explained the obligation to meet the Egyptian standard specifications.
Krenn praised NFSA’s role in promoting efforts and overcoming any obstacles to opening up various global markets for Egypt’s food exports.
He added that there are nearly 500 companies operating under the umbrella of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting discussed the possibility of enhancing trade between the two countries through those companies.
