The Egyptian Drug Authority and its branches in the governorates conducted inspection campaigns during November on drug facilities.
EDA inspected more than 26 thousand pharmaceutical facilities from public and private pharmacies, drug stores, distribution companies, and drug factories, and the conduct of nearly 470 inspection campaigns.
78 unlicensed facilities have been seized for storing quantities of medicines and withholding them from circulation.
Five unauthorised manufacturing places manufacturing medical supplies and distilled water for antibiotic use, medicines, food supplements, and disinfectants were seized before being traded in the market.
The estimated value of seizures was more than LE60 million.
EDA calls on all pharmacists and citizens to communicate with it through various means of communication in case of irregularities in the circulation of medicines. This came as a part of the efforts of the Egyptian Drug Authority to control the drug market and maintain the quality, effectiveness, and safety of pharmaceuticals.
