CAIRO – The US dollar exchange rate inched down on Monday at Egypt’s major banks, after the Central Bank of Egypt increased the interest rate by 1 per cent in March.
At the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, the dollar rate inched down one piaster, recording LE18.23 for buying and LE18.33 for selling.
The dollar exchange rate also registered LE18.19 for buying and LE18.29 for selling at the Commercial International Bank (CIB).
As for main currencies exchange rates, world capital markets and banks are being affected on the back of repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, euro prices increased last month by 1.65-2.61 piasters for selling and buying.
The euro price registered LE20.09 for buying and LE20.26 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
At the CIB, the euro price was LE20.06 for buying and LE20.21 for selling.
The pound sterling at the NBE and Banque Misr registered LE23.87 for buying and LE24.08 for selling.
At the CIB, the pound sterling exchange rate registered LE23.82 for buying and LE24.02 for selling.
The Saudi riyal price stood at LE4.85 for buying and LE4.88 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
