CAIRO – Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania al Mashat said adaptation to climate change is key to achieving high-quality economic growth” and ensuring resilience.

Risks associated with climate and nature should be considered while implementing national investment plans to ensure the sustainability of projects and reduce the negative environmental impact on future generations, Mahsat added.

This came in a statement issued by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation following Mashat’s arrival to Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the activities of the “Finance, Investment and Trade Day”, which is taking place on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29) that kicked off on Monday and runs till November 22, under the theme “Investing in a Liveable Planet for All”.

The Ministry aims to achieve a qualitative and sustainable economic growth through three main tracks; formulating an economic development policy based on data and evidence, building a resilient economy and enhancing macroeconomic stability by implementing structural reforms as well as mobilizing and maximizing benefits from local and foreign financing to achieve sustainable development, Mashat stated.
