CAIRO – The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said the volume of cash increased by EGP 520 billion to hit EGP 5.876 trillion by the end of January.
In a report issued late Thursday and obtained by MENA, the CBE attributed the rise in local liquidity to the increase of net local assets and the hike in foreign assets at the banking body.
The net non-current deposits in local currency assets at the banking sector rose by EGP 378.4 billion, while the net foreign currency deposits increased by EGP 16.2 billion.
