CAIRO – Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi discussed with Executive Vice President of British Petroleum (BP) William Lane the company’s activities in Egypt in the field of research, exploration and production of natural gas.
The two sides also discussed the company’s new business plans and the launch of expanded program to drill natural gas exploration wells in its concession areas in the Mediterranean Sea.
The minister expressed his full appreciation of the role of BP in developing energy resources in Egypt, and its serious commitment to work and contribute to the Egyptian energy system.
Badawi stressed the importance of intensifying joint work between the petroleum sector and BP to increase production and speed up the development of oil fields and placing them on the production map via applying the latest technologies.
Badawi also called on the company to accelerate research and exploration operations to increase oil reserves, stressing his ministry’s full support in this regard.
They also reviewed the company’s ongoing work to drill two new wells for gas production and the expanded program to drill exploratory gas wells in the Mediterranean Sea.
