The Suez Canal economic Zone (SCZone) announced Monday that officially working by the Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system in its six ports will begin next July as the importers began joining the new system since piloting it in April.
In a statement yesterday, Chairman of the SCZone eng Yehia Zaki underlined keenness on gradual application of the new e-mechanism at SCZone ports as the zone is working on removing obstructions for investors due to its
vision 2020/25.
“This new system will help protect the egyptian borders from the access of banned materials or goods. Also under the ACI, importers will submit digital documents for the imported goods to the customs authority
through the ‘one-window’ platform before shipping them to the country in order to get the initial customs registration number (ACID),” Zaki said.
The SCzone will notify the importers with the customs registration number to be recorded in the shipping documents related to the imported goods.
The e-signature will be used in the data entry and the electronic registration of all data and documents for the
pre-registration system.
