These remarks by Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Molla came during the periodic follow-up meeting on the building of natural gas filling stations.

The ministry hopes to encourage more people to take advantage of this service as it is expected that there will be 1,000 natural gas filling stations nationwide by the end of 2021.

Currently, 306 stations nationwide and 100 transfer centre are operating across the nation.

The aim of the current scheme is the establishment of gas stations at existing filling stations and set up new supply stations with private sector participation.

The plan has the full support of the political leadership and the government.

A national natural gas network will extend throughout Egypt and sites have been carefully studied to suit the programme.
