NFSA highlighted in its report that the General Administration of Factories Control carried out 104 supervisory inspections of food factories nationwide, according to the Information Centre of the National Food Safety Authority’s 26th report, during the period from July 13 to 16.
The Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centres exanimated, inspected visits reached 75 and issued 828 agricultural export permits.
Onions topped the list of exports at 22,000 tonnes, followed by potatoes at 16,000 tonnes, beans at 15,000 tonnes, and 72 types of exported vegetables at 60,000 tonnes.
Citrus fruit exports were in the lead with 22,000 tonnes, followed by grapes at 12,000 tonnes and strawberries at 8,000 tonnes.
Saudi Arabia, Italy, Syria, and Sudan were the biggest customers for Egyptian products out of 160 importers.
The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 74 products, three companies, and examined 820 new products.
Complaints Management carried out 318 inspection campaigns to ensure the safety of food in a number of governorates.
Control of Commercial Chains has conducted 34 commissariats to ensure that their branches meet the requirements of food safety.
454 food establishments were registered, and 190 establishments met the requirements.
The Warehouse Control Department implemented 27 monitoring missions in a number of governorates.
NFSA, in co-operation with the Chamber of Food Industries, Assessment and Inspection of Food Businesses (TAIB), and ERAS, participated in the presentation of the checklist of warehouse requirements as well as the guidelines of Decision No. 4 of 2022 on warehousing requirements.
This came to implement one of the objectives of the Authority’s Strategy 2023-2026.
The General Department of Slaughterhouses conducted 13 inspection visits to poultry and meat slaughterhouses, as well as 46 visits to intestinal factories, in addition to issuing 13 permissions for exports to the EU.
The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), as part of its role, has launched extensive inspection campaigns to ensure food safety.
This came in line with directives from NFSA chairman Dr Tareq El-Houby to tighten the control on food establishments in a number of governorates.
