ISMAILIA, Egypt- Head of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabei followed up on Monday the workflow of building three new tugboats at Port Said Marine Arsenal.
The new tugs are expected to join Port Said tug fleet in the second half of the current year.
This came during his inspection tour of Port Said Harbor, where the three new tugs, namely Mohammed Nagm, Mohammed El Ghamry and Galal El Deeb, are being built.
The construction, mechanical and electrical works for the “Mohammed Nagm” tug reached 48%, for the “Mohammed El-Ghamry” tug reached 29% and for “Galal El Deeb” tug reached 17%, he underlined.
This came within the terms of the contract signed between the SCA and the Chinese Guangzhou Company, which includes the construction of six new powerful escort tugs; three tugboats that have already been built in the Chinese arsenal and the other three will be built in Port Said.
With a beam of 12.8 meters and a length of 32 meter, the ASD tugs will have 75 ton bollard pull salvage, he further noted.
