Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias had a meeting in Athens, lauding strong and historical ties between Egypt and Greece.
Both ministers underlined the need to continue having consultations on issues of common interest, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Tuesday.
The meeting is part of Shoukry’s current visit to Athens with a view to enhancing Egypt-Greece relations and consulting on the latest regional and international developments.
The visit will include important meetings with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to discuss ways to boost cooperation and coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual interest, as well as to continue political consultation on important regional and international issues.
According to Abu Zeid, Shoukry will also meet during the visit with Dimitrios Copelouzos, the founding Chairman and Managing Director of the Copelouzos Group, to follow up on the progress achieved in implementing the electrical interconnection project between Egypt and Greece.
He will also give an interview to the popular Greek Skai News station, the spokesman added.
