Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) Mostafa Waziry and President of Shanghai Art Collection Museum, the first thematic museum in China, Hu Muqing, signed Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of archaeological and museum work.
The MoU will contribute to the implementation of a long-term strategy in organising temporary exhibitions, conducting research projects and launching educational programmes, which would advance museum work in Egypt and China.
It also aims to enhance cooperation between the SCA and the Chinese museum in carrying out archaeological works and natural science research; conducting studies; analysing and restoring artefacts, and exchanging experiences.
The MoU also aims to set up and organise bilateral training programmes in museum management technology, restoration and maintenance, and preparing conservation and management plans for world cultural heritage sites in both countries.
Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Hu Heping and his accompanying delegation are currently on a visit to Egypt.
He arrived in Cairo late Saturday and was received by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa.
This is the first visit by a high-ranking Chinese official since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
