Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir on Wednesday visited the Swedish company Ericsson, one of the world’s leading information and communication technology companies, to review investment opportunities in the Egyptian market.
The minister also visited Åhléns, a chain of Swedish department stores.
The visits came on the sidelines of his participation in the Joint Swedish-Egyptian Business Forum in Swedish capital Stockholm on Wednesday.
The minister held a meeting on Wednesday with the board chairman of the Åhléns Group to discuss the possibilities of importing its needs from Egypt in terms of agricultural and food commodities and supplies.
Samir also met officials of a number of major Swedish companies working in transport, auto industry, new and renewable energy, medical and home appliances and information technology to review the investment opportunities available in the Egyptian market during the current and future stage.
On the margins of the forum, Minister Samir and Swedish Minister for International Development Co-operation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell signed a protocol aimed at developing economic, trade and investment co-operation relations between Egypt and Sweden.
The two officials discussed opportunities to increase trade and investment between the two countries with the aim of achieving sustainable development in energy, transport and sciences.
The two sides agreed to establish an Egyptian-Swedish business forum in Egypt.
