The cabinet approved in its weekly meeting on Tuesday under Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli a draft presidential decree on a framework agreement between Egypt and the secretary of Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal that is related to the regional center of training and transferring technology to the Arab countries affiliated to the Basel Convention.
This comes to boost Egypt’s role as a pioneer country in this field among the Arab states.
The center works on helping the countries that are part of the Basel Convention via building the abilities and consultation in the field of safe environmental management of hazardous waste to achieve the goals of the convention.
Also, the cabinet approved a draft presidential decree allocating 10 feddans of state-owned lands in Beni Suef for the national authority on drinking water and sanitation to use them in establishing a sanitation water treatment plant to improve services presented to the citizens.
