Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour on Monday met with Neal Juster, Vice-Chancellor of the British University of Lincoln for co-operation talks.

Stressing the need to exchange scientific expertise between Egyptian universities and their British counterparts, the minister said Egypt has witnessed a boom in higher education and scientific research as a result of his ministry’s strategy to upgrade education nationwide.

Having referred to the many development projects in public, private and technological universities, the minister said the government is keen to establish branches of internationally prestigious universities in Egypt in order to give young people top-quality education by global standards to be qualify them for the international workplace.

Ashour stressed the importance of establishing more technological universities across the country given the growing importance of these universities in terms of scientific value.

Co-operation with the British University of Lincoln comes within ministry plans to encourage highest-ranking universities worldwide to co-operate with Egyptian universities, the minister added.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance co-operation between Egyptian universities and Lincoln University, especially in priority areas that serve the sustainable development goals, known as Egypt Vision 2030.

Juster expressed his appreciation of efforts by the government to upgrade education at all stages, referring to the role of the ministry in strengthening partnership with international institutions, notably in the fields of public health and food security to face climate change and preserve cultural heritage.

The University of Lincoln is home to a growing community of students from around the world. Since Queen Elizabeth II opened the first University of Lincoln building on the Brayford Pool Campus, it has welcomed more than 90,000 students from across 135 countries. The University is listed in the world’s top 130 universities in the Times Higher Education’s (THE) Young University Rankings 2022.
