The National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW) announced on Tuesday the launch of the Shoulder in Shoulder initiative in South Sinai, in preparation for the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
South Sinai residents received yesterday 11 trucks loaded with more than 20,000 food cartons containing 400 tonnes of basic staples and 2,000 blankets for the neediest people in the governorate.
‘Shoulder in Shoulder’, the largest social protection initiative in the history of Egypt, is in response to directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to support those most in need.
The Decent Life Foundation, Sanaa Al-Khair Foundation, Al-Jarhi Foundation for Community Development, Abou El-Enein Charitable Foundation, and Egyptian Food Bank are engaged in the initiative.
In March 2022, NACDW was established after 24 civil associations signed on its charter.
By the end of the past year, the alliance became the biggest organised, independent gathering of civil society associations, representing the main umbrella, under which 30,000 associations work to achieve development, economic empowerment, and social protection.
The alliance also includes 15,000 partner associations and 30,000 member associations under the General Federation of NGOs, which encompasses around 60,000 employees and 50,000 volunteers.
