Producing quality work on time, within budget, and on schedule is challenging. As skill shortage and rising costs become more prevalent, the only way to deliver quality work is by embracing new approaches and adopting new techniques that ensure improved efficiency across operations. Today, with technology taking centre stage, the digital transformation phase has allowed construction companies to depend on it for full-scale, effective project delivery.

Companies are making use of intelligent tools, software, and solutions to meet the expanding demand in the construction sector. This is also accurate in Egypt, with the country’s construction sector positioned for stronger growth and advancements. As a result of Egypt’s long history of scientific and cultural advancements, the country has seen a surge in projects, with foreign governments providing export credit financing to aid the country’s economic development. With a growing population, a push to increase exports, and the country’s strategic location, Egypt’s road networks, energy production capabilities, and transportation networks have also seen rapid development in recent years.

Due to these factors, there is an increased need for infrastructure development and advanced construction technologies, particularly in new cities like the New Administrative Capital (NAC). The construction market in Egypt is expected to reach 620.9 billion pounds (USD 31.55 billion) by 2026. Significant investments in the residential, infrastructure, and industrial zones are largely fueling this growth. As a result, the need for new workflows and advanced technology is now a top priority for Egypt’s construction industry, especially given the scale and complexity of the projects.

Paul Wallett, Regional Director of Trimble Middle East and India said: “In order to improve the results of construction projects, infrastructure and capital improvement owners must adopt digital technology that enhances workflows and fills gaps between various processes. The benefits of digital transformation can be seen across the entire lifecycle of projects and assets, which result in successful outcomes with increased value. With the adoption of new technologies and operations, Egypt’s construction sector will certainly thrive, and we look forward to contributing to that vision.”

Without adopting new methods of operation, construction firms face the risk of inefficient workflows, errors, and mishaps, which can result in delayed projects. According to reports from Egypt, sectors that are expected to grow in the upcoming years include those that deal with technological developments, such as building information modelling (BIM) and modular construction, which will help boost the industry’s competitiveness and increase its investment appeal. Trimble’s solutions, such as BIM, Digital Twins, modular construction, 3D modelling, as well as Hololens programming and robotics, are all integral components of this objective.

There is a critical need for building solutions that provide users with the highest level of control, efficiency, and competitive differentiation. Consequently, Trimble’s solutions enable customers to automate procedures like ordering and bidding, while also lowering errors, waste, overruns, and safety risks. Taking these factors and emerging technologies into account, it is essential for nations to adopt advanced construction technology in their operations to better meet the needs of the evolving market.
