PORT SAID, Egypt – The State is exerting painstaking efforts to confront the overpopulation problem and the growing water scarcity, affirmed Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hani Sewilam.

The minister, meanwhile, drew attention to the several mega projects which are being implemented to reuse the agricultural drainage water.

Such projects primarily aim to attain food security and confront desertification, added the minister during his visit to Port Said governorate on Friday.

During his visit, the minister toured two stations Rafei el Salam and Shader Azzam, which are part of Bahr el Baqar Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The minister, meanwhile, extended thanks to all the employees at the two stations for their efforts to reuse each drop of water.
