Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tareq el-Mulla discussed with Australian Ambassador in Cairo Glenn Miles means to enhance bilateral co-operation in the mining, gas and green energy domains.

In statements on Tuesday, the minister said that they reviewed available investment opportunities in mineral wealth in Egypt and the country’s growing role as an exporter of natural gas.

The increasing credibility of the petroleum sector boosts confidence of international oil companies, giving positive signals that it respects its contracts with foreign partners, the minister further noted.

There are great opportunities for exchanging expertise between the two sides in the field of mining, he added.

The minister reviewed developments related to the mining sector in Egypt in recent years in light of the significant reforms that were introduced with the aim to create a conducive climate for investors.

He went on to say that this matter helped attract 10 new international and Egyptian companies to invest in gold and mineral explorations through successful international bids.

The Australian ambassador said that his country looks forward to co-operating with Egypt in the gas, mining and hydrogen domains, underlining that Australian companies seek to get acquainted with investment opportunities in these fields in the country.

The meeting took up the participation of Australia’s BHP Petroleum, which recently merged with Woodside Energy, along with Chevron Corporation in its concession areas in the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt.
