Shoukry: Egyptian-US relations based on mutual respect

CAIRO – Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has praised relations of friendship between Egypt and the United States.

Addressing a joint press conference on Monday with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken currently visiting Egypt as part of a regional tour, the foreign minister said Egyptian-US relations are based on mutual respect and common interests.

He said his talks today with the US top diplomat reflected the rapprochement in the strategic interests between the two countries and coordination on many issues.

Shoukry said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s meeting with Blinken dealt with bilateral relations and the strategic nature of ties.

He added that Egypt hopes joint cooperation would contribute to promoting efforts of achieving stability in the region in line with the international legitimacy resolutions and the vision of common interests.
