CAIRO- Stations of the Egyptian national network for earthquakes recorded Wednesday afternoon a 6-magnitude earthquake eastern the Mediterranean Sea.
Egyptians felt the tremor, but no casualties or structural damage was reported.
Chairman of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) Gad Qadi said the national stations affiliated to NRIAG was recorded 502 kilometers away from the Egyptian coasts.
In statements to MENA, he said the 54-kilometer deep earthquake was felt by Egyptians in a number of governorates.
He added that a detailed statement about the tremor will be issued.
