Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday called for strict adherence to the controls over Egyptian agricultural exports in order to produce crops of distinguished quality, with exclusive reliance on entities affiliated with the coding system before the agricultural quarantine, and to address any violation in this context, in addition to the application of the standards set by importing countries for all Egyptian agricultural crops.
The president made these remarks during his meeting on Tuesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El-Sayed Al-Quseir as well as a host of top government officials, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, President Sisi also called for following up the conditions of farmers and small breeders on a regular basis and helping them through providing the necessary technical support and veterinary care for livestock as well as intensifying the advisory role for all beneficiaries of the national programme for the distribution of livestock.
For his part, Minister of Agriculture Al-Quseir presented the unprecedented development of the Egyptian agricultural export system, especially the governance of export procedures and the new coding system that is applied to Egyptian agricultural exports to ensure tracking of exported products and tight control over them from farms to importing countries
The meeting also included a presentation on the progress of livestock development efforts, through the national programme for distributing thousands of highly productive livestock to farmers and small breeders, with the aim of improving their conditions and supporting them economically in coordination between the relevant ministries, the National Service Projects Authority, the banking sector and civil society organisations.
At another meeting on Tuesday with PM Madbouli, Minister of Supply Ali el-Moselhi as well as a host of other ministers and senior government officials, President Sisi was briefed on the position of the strategic stocks of all basic food commodities as part of the state’s efforts to maintain the strategic stocks of staples, taking into account the current global food crisis.
During the meeting, the president directed the government to maintain the continuity of the state’s strategic stock of food commodities in addition to maximising the added value of storing commodities from the of strategic silos that were established throughout the nation, with the aim of increasing their storage capacities. This would contribute to maintaining the stability of the country’s food security position.
The president also followed up on the developments of the current season of wheat cultivation nationwide. He directed the government in this respect to set lucrative price for wheat supply so that it achieves a profitable return for farmers, and increases wheat supply.
