Starting off at about LE100 million in 2017, a national veal project has now attracted more than LE7.355 billion worth of investments, a senior official at the Agriculture Ministry said on Tuesday.
Back in 2017, about LE100 million had been allocated for 250 young cattle breeders and graduates as part of the project, said head of the livestock and poultry development sector Tareq Soliman in a telephone conversation with DMC channel earlier today.
Some 41,800 graduates and young cattle breeders benefit from the project, which is meant to breed over 473,000 cattle head, Soliman explained.
He stressed the need for breeders to provide a suitable place for animal breeding before they receive cattle head and then pay insurance at a fund established for that purpose.
The livestock and poultry development sector remains in contact with the breeders to make sure suitable veterinary services are provided, the official added.
