Means of  boosting bilateral ties with the UAE, mainly economic and investment, were the focus of talks Minister of  Trade and Industry, Nevene Gamea, held Sunday with the new UAE Ambassador to Egypt, Dr Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi.

The meeting stressed the prime importance of making utmost benefit from the brotherly relations between the political leaderships in both countries, a statement quoted Minister Gamea as saying.

This has pushed bilateral ties to broader horizons, trade, investment and industry, in particular, she added.

Minister Gamea stressed that the UAE is Egypt’s largest trade partner in the

Middle East, as mutual trade hit $4.111 billion in 2020, compared to $3.356 billion a year earlier.

Egypt’s exports to the UAE market in 2020 hit 2.882 billion, up from $2.051 billion the previous year, the minister said, noting that the UAE is the biggest investor in Egypt, contributing to projects with capital or more than $7 billion.

For his part, the UAE envoy underlined his country’s keenness on further fostering co-operation with Egypt, in light of the strategic relations between the two countries.

These ties have witnessed remarkable progress in all fields over the past few years, mainly economy and trade, Al Shamsi.

He also highlighted the renaissance Egypt has been achieving under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, referring to the grand national development projects across the nation, with the New Administrative Capital (NAC) on top.

He also pointed to the success by the Egyptian government to contain the repercussions of Covid-19 pandemic, avoiding an overall lockdown.
