Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed the necessity of concerted efforts among the State, factories and civil society organisations to support farmers and livestock owners and breeders with a view to increasing milk production.
Sisi made the remarks as part of his speech during the inauguration of the first phase of New Mansoura City.
The livestock development initiative will change the lives of farmers; as one head of cattle will yield them some LE200 per day, the president noted.
Director-General of the Orman Charity Association Mamdouh Shaaban said 100 head of cattle have been handed over to farmers as part of the livestock development initiative in cooperation with the ministries of agriculture and social solidarity.
One head of cattle can generate 25-30 kilograms of milk per day, he added.
Speaking about another initiative to promote animal production, the official said an Arab investor has purchased 250 head of cattle in order to produce meat, noting that one head of cattle is expected to gain 1.7 kilograms every day to weigh a total of 420 kilograms.
In this regard, President Sisi called on those willing to give “Zakah” (pay annual alms) or offer financial support to donate some head of cattle to beneficiaries of the initiative in order to ensure them a job opportunity with a continued income.
