Public Business Sector Minister Mahmoud Esmat said that his ministry has outlined a plan to improve the textile industry sector in Egypt, tap new markets and increase exports.
Esmat made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the annual international pan-African event “Destination Africa 2022” for the textile industries in Egypt. The two-day event witnesses the participation of more than 150 international buyers and representatives of 80 various popular international brands.
The minister clarified that the development plan covers all stages of textile production, starting from the cultivation of cotton and the whole manufacturing process up to making the end product, noting the importance of catching up with the global developments regarding professional marketing.
During the event, Esmat met with representatives of major local manufacturers, international buyers and officials from the African Cotton and Textile Industries Federation (ACTIF), highlighting the importance of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and African countries and promoting Egyptian products in markets across the continent.
Destination Africa is an annual international pan-African B2B sourcing event for the textile industries in Egypt.
