CAIRO – Local Development Minister Hisham Amna asserted his ministry’s keenness on contacting parties concerned with following up the implementation of the COP27 outcome and linking the 2022 global climate conference’s recommendations to the agendas of the 10th round of Africities Summit in 2025 and 12th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF) in 2024 that will be held in Egypt.
This came in his speech in a session organised by the ministry on the sidelines of the COP27 in Sharm el Sheikh city under the title “Road from COP27 to Africities and WUF”.
The session was attended by a number of senior officials including Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments of Africa Jean-Pierre Elong Mbassi.
The minister noted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gives great attention to empowering women in all fields and sectors, adding that there is a great representation of women in the government, parliament, and municipalities.
He hoped that developed and industrial countries will be committed to implementing COP27 recommendations in order to help African and developing countries in dealing with the adverse impacts of climate change.
